The majority of our students have not mastered their basic multiplication and division facts when they arrive in the fall, so we practice these weekly to achieve mastery.  We also spend time each week working on key content areas that they need to master in order to be successful in learning new content that they encounter in the classroom.  We observed considerable improvement in our students' basic math skills within the past school year (see graph below), and the math grades for 84 percent of our students increased by two points (e.g. C+ to B) compared to the previous year.
