Micaela Flores brings a wealth of knowledge to DreamCatchers from her work with after-school programs that serve low-income families. Her experiences have led her to realize that she loves to support low-income students and families throughout their educational journeys. She hopes to continue to work with families, students and teachers to better support the academic success of DreamCatchers’ students.
Micaela grew up in East Palo Alto, the daughter of Mexican immigrant parents who taught her the importance of education. As a student she was part of the Voluntary Transfer Program (VTP), which allowed her to attend school in the Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) while living in East Palo Alto. Micaela attended El Carmelo Elementary, JLS Middle School and Gunn High School in Palo Alto. She graduated from Saint Mary’s College of California with a Bachelor of Arts in liberal and civic studies and a minor in women’s and gender studies. Micaela’s peers selected her for the Latino Student Leadership Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership in the Saint Mary’s Latino community. Micaela is very excited to return to PAUSD and work closely with students, families and teachers.
