2015-2019 Homework & SEL


  • Added an emphasis on social and emotional learning (SEL)

  • SEL—creating a safe space

  • High school & Stanford students as tutors

  • 1:1 tutoring once per week for 2 hours

  • Two parent engagement events per year

  • Annual feedback surveys

  • Partnership with Citv & PAUSD

Phase 3:

2019-2021 High School Readiness & SEL


  • Broadened focus to high school readiness— addressing life, academic, and task readiness, raise awareness of A-G requirements, AP classes, & 4-year plan

  • Enhanced customized math & English curriculum

  • Community building - focused on SEL, empathy, respect, etc.

  • Educational consultant & program staff w/ 35+ yrs teaching experience

  • 1:1 or 2:1 tutoring all 4 program hours plus regular check-in by experienced math/ELA teacher

  • Aligned school site partnerships - counselors, math &
    ELA dept.

  • Monthly parent engagement mtgs. plus parent advisory board
    Bi-monthly surveys & assessments like MDTP & Keystone/ISEE
    COVID-19: pivoted to remote instruction and summer camp

Phase 4:

2021-Present


  • Post-Covid. Back to fully in-person, we now serve almost 200 students.

  • Classroom Directors receive professional development training in Social Emotional Learning curriculum, Classroom Management techniques, etc.,

  • Targeted and individualized academic instruction facilitated by tutors and Classroom Directors
