Position Overview
Dreamcatchers is an after-school program for Palo Alto Unified District’s socioeconomically disadvantaged middle school students designed to provide academic and enrichment support to complement the school day curriculum, improve school outcomes, prepare students for high school, and foster a healthy interest in learning.

As a Site Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating staff, students, volunteers, and resources at your assigned site. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that program runs smoothly and provides a safe and productive environment for staff and students alike. 

You will be directly supervised by the Director of Program and overseen by the DreamCatchers Executive Director. 

Location: Palo Alto, CA (Fletcher Middle School, Green Middle School or JLS Middle School)
Work Months: Regular academic year (plus opportunity for summer employment)
Compensation: $28/hour - all hours (including training and team meetings will be compensated). For the purposes of federal wage-hour law, you will be eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a given work week. You will not be provided paid vacation days or benefits.

Expected Work Hours/Schedule: 

  • 8-14 hours per week 

  • Monday/Wednesday 2:00pm-5:30pm; Tuesday/Thursday 2:45pm-6:15 pm

  • Weekly meetings with your direct supervisor and additional professional development training (meeting and training time will be compensated)

Job Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities for this include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Distributing snacks during program 

  • Managing all communications and needs regarding facilities

  • Communicating to Classroom Directors about program needs

  • Mentor and coach Classroom Directors in program and provide ad-hoc floating support including behavioral support for students

  • Substitute for any absent classroom directors when needed

  • Oversee all students in program and serve as the first point of contact with escalated incidents/concerns

  • Manage professional relationships with families through all program communications 

  • Addressing any issues that arise at program and escalating as-needed to your Director of Program and/or the DreamCatchers Executive Director for support

  • Ensuring open and regular communication with your Director of Program and the DreamCatchers Executive Director.

  • Upkeep attendance records daily for students, tutors, and Classroom Directors

  • Providing end-of-day recaps to your Director of Program, logging all incidents as necessary in the incidents procedure, and implementing the restorative resolutions when appropriate

  • Organize all program inventories including classroom materials and snack logistics

  • Facilitate curriculum and related Classroom Director trainings throughout the academic year
